There is a new version of the alphabet song that helps young children avoid running together L-M-N as if they were one letter when they first start repeating the alphabet? I’ve put together these letters to represent what is known, through research, to build healthy brain development, especially in early childhood. Each of the traits are important on their own, but they are also interrelated or connected. They play well together!
Below I share some stories about my students to show the benefits of strategies in practice. The names will be changed but the short stories are real.
L represents love and literacy. Love.... and love literacy! Love is the very first thing a paren or caregiver can show that is proven to build neural pathways in the brain. Love includes being responsive and following your child’s lead. And most parents are aware of the benefits of reading. I’ll share more strategies about how to get your child interested in books in the “L” section.
